NAYEC and DEC codes of ethics
I-1.4—To appreciate the vulnerability of children and
their dependence on adults.
I-1.5—To create and maintain safe and healthy settings
that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and
physical development and that respect their dignity
and their contributions.
I-1.9—To advocate for and ensure that all children,
including those with special needs, have access to the needed to be successful.
I think that in education especially early childhood education these three really are important to me because,
children often learn how to trust adults especially the ones that truly have their interest in their hearts.
As educators children look up to us and they can sense and feel when their teacher really appreciate their presence. Also we have to present a creative and warm environment for our children as well as teach them the developmental skills they are so eagerly. We are the voices for these children especially the ones with special needs I really want to develop some kind of program for children with special needs I'm actually in the process of getting my center equip so I can be able to accept some children with special needs we really have to advocate for these type of children and families because they need as much support that they can receive because they are very special and I just want to be a great help to them.
DEC
Ensuring the Well-Being of Our Children and Families
In chapter three, I found this to be very important because ensuring the well being of the children in which you service is important, mainly because if the children are secured they can give us more and be more attentive to whats they are learning and their minds won't be distracted. Since I have be in this field I have learn that children demonstrate what they are feeling through their actions and they want just come right out and say it but if you truly pay attention to your students you will know if something is different about each and every child you teach.

Great post, Jamila!!
ReplyDeleteI agree; children do look up to us and we need to ensure we are providing them with everything they need and making sure they can fully trust us! And, just as you said, if we provide them with what they need and feel secure, we can have more attention from them!!
Thank you for such a great post!!
Susan
Great choices Jamila. I love your choices. Children can pick up on our emotions and they read them very well.
ReplyDeleteExcellent post Jamila. And going back to what you said on my blog, no need to apologize. That is what the blog is for, just let it all out! lol But you said a lot of good things in this post, especially in your last statement. That is so true! And I think that is why I understand children so much because I do the same thing lol. At times, I won't come out and say what is wrong with me but my actions will say it all! I'm still working on me lol.
ReplyDeleteJamila,
ReplyDeleteThe DEC code of ethics provides a foundation for working with children and other teachers. Also, the NAEYC is a great source of information for working with children from diverse groups.
Hello, Jamila
ReplyDeleteYou have chosen three good ideals from the NAEYC- Code of Ethical Conduct and Statement of Commitment in the position statement. The I-1.4, I-1.5, and the I-1.9 are good ideals that deal with us as early childhood educators who care for the young children in our care because I feel the same as you that children often learn how to trust adults especially the ones that have their interest in their hearts.

Jamila,
ReplyDeleteThank you for being such a wonderful educator who shows continual love and respect for children through your postings and discussions. You have been wonderful during this course. Thank you for being an educator who puts their children first.
I hope you have a wonderful learning experience while attending Walden Univeristy. I look forward to working with you again.
Blessings,
Susan
Jamila,
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Susan you have been a wonderful educator who has shown that you care about what you are doing. I have learned so much from reading your blog. I really didn't have any idea to what educators were capable of doing with their students. I have been totally over flowing with information about children. I can only hope to live up to the Standards that have been placed before me. I take this Job very very seriously. Especially because I am a mother. I think as women we often find ourselves wanting to be perfect. I pray that God give me the strength to continue to do my very best and be all that I can be so that I can make a difference in the life of every child.
Jamila, this blogging thing has been really challenging for me. However when I seen your blog and the heart and soul you put into it, I must admit it stirred me up. I was challenged more than ever to make my blog something I want the public to sing about. So thank you for being excellent and you have been my teacher in the blogging department. I will look to you for hope should I need it. Thank you again.
